Beat the Heat!

Summer is here and it’s time for fun in the sun! It’s also time to be on the lookout for heat related injuries. Heat injuries range from mild to deadly, it’s importatnt to stay on guard and catch the warning signs as early as possible.

Heat Exhaustion:

  • Heavy sweating
  • Cold, pale, and clammy skin
  • Fast, weak pulse
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Muscle cramps
  • Tiredness or weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fainting (passing out)

To treat heat exhaustion: move the person to a cool shaded area, drink cold water, have the person lay down and prop there feet up. More severe symptoms could be a sign of a heat stroke and is a medical emergency, EMS should be called immediately.
