D.E.A.R.: A Surprising Way to De-stress

Today is Drop Everything and Read Day!

Reading may reduce stress by as much as 68% according to a Sussex University study. That’s a stronger effect than going for a walk (42%), drinking a cup of tea or coffee (54%), or listening to music (61%).

April 12 is known as D.E.A.R Day! D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything and Read,” a national day designed to remind individuals of all ages to make reading a priority in their lives.

On D.E.A.R Day, everyone is encouraged to put aside all distractions for 30 minutes and enjoy books together. Stop by your local library or pick up a classic from your bookshelf. Start a new habit today by reading before bed or gathering the family for a read-aloud after dinner.
