Expressing gratitude offers more than a simple thank you

November is National Gratitude Month, a time to embrace the power of gratitude. Expressing gratitude gives us a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us.

November is full of dates that hold special meaning – the perfect time to focus on gratitude.

International Stress Awareness Day was earlier this month. Research shows that practicing gratitude can enhance our moods, decrease stress, and improve our health and wellbeing. On average, grateful people have fewer stress-related illnesses and experience less depression and lowered blood pressure, are more physically fit, happier, enjoy more satisfying personal and professional relationships, and are better liked.

Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and this month is Military Family Month. It’s the perfect time to show gratitude to ones who serve our country. Family members sacrifice a lot for those who serve so thanking them for their service lifts their spirits too.

World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13. One of the best ways to begin practicing gratitude is by showing kindness to others. Help spread love so the world is a more peaceful place.

Gratitude’s amazing powers can transform our outlook from focusing on the negative to appreciating what is positive in our lives, an important reminder on International Survivors of Suicide Day, November 23.

Finally, the biggest holiday of the month, Thanksgiving, began as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest. It’s an opportunity to express your gratitude to family and friends.
