As a leader, ask your employees to write down a personal goal of theirs with only one catch—it can’t be about work. It’s about encouraging each employee to set a goal that will measurably contribute to their personal wellbeing.
A few examples of goals include:
“I will take a one-hour break three times a week to work out.”
“I will leave the office by 5 p.m. twice per week to play with my daughter before bed.”
“I will not read emails on the weekends.”
Commit to helping them achieve that goal, checking in regularly and holding them accountable along with their work-related goals. This is a great way to show employees you care about them beyond metrics and performance. If you notice employees achieving their goals, recognize them. Use the WellWithin eCard through Recognize YOU to encourage them to keep going. Find the eCard using the “Thank You” filter.
