Free admission to Bernheim Forest the weekend of Fourth of July (July 6 and 7)!
GEA employees get this special admission thanks to a donation GEA made in celebration of Earth Day that established the business as a Sustainability Education Partner of Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. Bring your employee ID to get in.
The $30,000 donation will be given over a total of three years, establishes the business as the Sustainability Education Sponsor for the “Forest Giants in a Giant Forest.” The artistic installation at Bernheim Forest features three giant sculptures created from sustainable materials created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. The sculptures will eventually decompose and become part of the forest, nourishing new growth.
As a result of GE Appliances’ donation, 200 area public school students and East Chestnut YMCA summer camp students will receive scholarships to attend STEM field trips to see the installation. The funds will also allow Bernheim to add a part-time nature-based educator for each of the three years of the sponsorship.
As part of the sponsorship, GE Appliances’ employees will receive a $15 discount on annual membership at Bernheim. In addition, employees will receive $2 vouchers to use on weekends (special events excluded) plus free admission the weekend of July Fourth.
