Take Mini Stress Breaks

Keep your mental health in check when you work from home.

Many of us find ourselves in uncharted territory with the new reality of working from home. How you handle your day can have a big effect on your emotional wellbeing. Here are a few tips to keep your spirits up:

Set a timer. Every 30 minutes stand up and stretch your arms to the sky. Do a few arm circles followed by bending and straightening your wrists. Regular stretching relaxes tight and tense muscles.

Take a quick walk outside. Exercise boosts your feel-good endorphins and can serve as a stress reliever. Studies show outdoor walks may help lower blood pressure and stress hormones.

Dr. Jason Strauss from Harvard-affiliated Cambridge Health Alliance says:
“Having something pleasant to focus on like trees and greenery helps distract your mind from negative thinking, so your thoughts become less filled with worry.”

Schedule analog breaks. Set aside time to escape all forms of digital screens. Give your eyes, neck, shoulders, and back a much-needed rest.
