Beat the heat with hydration tips and onsite resources

Heat is no joke. In fact, it’s the leading weather-related cause of death in the U.S., according to OSHA. And in a manufacturing environment, high temps and hard work can raise your risk for heat-related illness.
That’s why it’s important to know the signs and take action early. Whether you’re on the line or walking between buildings, here’s how to stay safe:
- Drink cool water – at least 1 cup every 20 minutes, even if you’re not thirsty
- Take breaks – give your body time to recover
- Dress for heat – loose, light-colored, breathable clothing
- Watch your crew – speak up if someone doesn’t look right
Know the Signs of Trouble
Get help immediately if you or someone else has:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea or vomiting
- Weakness or confusion
- Dehydration (dark urine, dry mouth, excessive thirst)
- Hot, dry skin or excessive sweating
- Fever

If you notice any of these symptoms:
- Move to a cooler area
- Remove extra clothing
- Sip water or electrolytes if alert
- Use cold compresses or ice packs
- Get medical help — contact your building nurse, EHS, or Security
- Never leave someone alone
