Celebrate National Grandparents Day
With the elderly population at higher risk for contracting COVID-19, many older Americans are sheltering in place or, if in a nursing home, following strict restrictions regarding family visits. Could this year’s National Grandparents Day be the most important yet?
About four million greeting cards are sent in the U.S. around National Grandparents Day, celebrated this year on Sunday, Sept. 13. With so many families separated due to virus concerns, mailed cards may see an uptick this year. If mailing a card isn’t your thing, here are some other ways to show your grandparents you appreciate them and express your love:
- Schedule a video chat
- Make a phone call
- If possible, set up a socially distant visit – complete with masks, good ventilation (outdoors is best) and hand sanitizer.
- Send a gift or flowers
Don’t let an opportunity to show you care pass by. If you’ve never taken part in National Grandparents Day before, let this be your first.
