Back to the Gym, Pain-Free

How Onsite Physical Therapy Helped Mark Rebuild Strength

After years of pushing through shoulder pain during workouts, weightlifter and senior engineering lab technician Mark Chissom finally had rotator cuff surgery on his left shoulder. It wasn’t his first time—he’d had the same surgery on his right side years earlier. That time, recovery meant long drives and time away from work. This time, things were different.

A coworker recommended Amy Lynch at ProRehab, the physical therapy clinic located right onsite at GE Appliance Park. “It saved me so much time,” Mark says. “No driving, no waiting rooms—I could fit my therapy in during the workday.”

Mark also noticed a difference in the care he received. “Rotator cuff recovery is hard. If you don’t have a therapist who pushes you, you won’t get full motion back,” he says. “Amy kept it fun, but she challenged me too. She asked what I wanted to get back to—push-ups and pull-ups—and built exercises around that.”

Amy, who has treated employees onsite for more than five years, provides care for both work-related and personal injuries, billing through personal insurance like any other clinic. She offers dry needling, manual therapy, education, and more.

As Mark neared the end of his five-month plan, Amy focused on rebuilding strength and teaching him how to protect his shoulder long-term. Now, a year after surgery, Mark is back in the gym—pain-free.

“Having this service onsite shows GE Appliances cares about our wellbeing,” he says. “It made a huge difference in my recovery.”
