Navigating the AI Era with Confidence and Balance

A Seminar, Work Culture and Healthy Habits Helped One Leader Reframe His Thoughts

Artificial intelligence is an incredible tool — and it’s advancing rapidly.

That reality once weighed heavily on Matthew Min, a senior manager with the Korea Technology Team at GE Appliances.

“The pressure to stay relevant is intense as AI reshapes industries,” he says. “Keeping up with new technologies and ensuring my team’s skills remain current can be overwhelming, and the fear of falling behind can negatively impact mental health.”

While the 49-year-old Min is excited about AI’s potential, he became increasingly anxious that these advancements could displace jobs — including his own. The constant push to innovate while maintaining job security felt overwhelming.

However, Min found balance through three key strategies: a company-hosted seminar, a supportive work culture, and personal habits like exercise and creative hobbies.

Turning Point: A Seminar That Changed Perspectives

Min’s journey began with an AI seminar hosted by GE Appliances, whose recent focus on employee adoption of AI was reinforced at the 2025 ALM.

The seminar addressed employee concerns about AI’s role in the workplace and emphasized its potential to enhance productivity and creativity rather than replace jobs.

This shift in mindset was transformative for Min. “Rather than viewing AI as a threat, I now see it as a tool to enhance productivity,” he says. “The lecture reduced my stress and empowered me to embrace AI’s opportunities without fearing it will diminish my role or my team’s value.”

Culture of Support

Beyond the seminar, Min says the supportive environment in GE Appliances’ Korea office is instrumental to his wellbeing.

“In our office, we encourage hobbies outside of work, such as a book club and board games,” he explains. “When I talk to employees, they seem genuinely passionate about both work and personal interests. It’s a great environment for mental health.”

Personal Habits: Finding Balance Through Hobbies

Outside of work, Min leans on personal habits to stay grounded. Daily exercise, drone flying, and experimenting with his 3D printer are part of his routine. He even uses AI to help with workout tips and training programs.

“I’ve found that having hobbies that challenge my mind and body helps me recharge,” he says. “It’s a way to disconnect from stress and refocus.”

These habits have made a significant difference, especially when paired with workplace support and GE Appliances’ WellWithin program, which promotes holistic employee wellbeing.

For colleagues feeling overwhelmed by technological change, Min offers this advice: “Reach out for support and remember that AI is a tool—not a threat. Embrace it, and let it work alongside you.”
