Onsite Care Helped Patty Heal

Patty found relief from joint pain without leaving work

It’s easy to take simple movements for granted—until they become painful. That’s what Patty Johnson, Central Quality Process Senior Manager, experienced last year when shoulder pain made everyday tasks—like blow-drying her hair or sleeping on her left side—uncomfortable.

Here’s Patty’s story:

Last fall, I started experiencing pain in my shoulder. It popped frequently, hurt to raise my arm—especially when blow-drying my hair—and made it difficult to sleep on my left side.

I visited CareATC and met with Dr. Karam, who referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. After a cortisone shot and a diagnosis of arthritis, my pain persisted, leading to an MRI that revealed a small rotator cuff tear. Surgery wasn’t necessary, but physical therapy was.

At first, I tried remote therapy, but it didn’t meet my needs. A friend suggested Physical Therapist Amy Lynch at ProRehab, located at Y @ Work in AP4. I hadn’t realized physical therapy was available onsite.

When I reached out, Amy immediately checked my benefits, explained the cost upfront, and scheduled my first session. She evaluated my range of motion and created a personalized treatment plan. I attended therapy twice a week, and Amy carefully monitored my progress, adjusting exercises as I got stronger. Healing a rotator cuff isn’t quick, but with her support, I improved—my shoulder no longer pops, I can blow dry my hair without pain, and I sleep comfortably again.

Amy builds strong relationships with her patients and keeps you motivated. Her encouragement pushed me to stay consistent with my exercises at home.

I highly recommend ProRehab to anyone needing physical therapy.
