Nine signs to watch for + help available at GE Appliances

✅Is your mind ‘always on’ and racing?
✅Are you a people-pleaser who goes out of their way to help others and struggles to say no?
✅Is it important for you to feel hyper-organized and ‘on it’?
✅Would you describe yourself as a perfectionist who finds feeling out of control really difficult?
✅Are you a persistent overachiever (sometimes to your detriment)?
✅Do you take on new things even when your plate is already full?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone. One in 14 people feel anxious. While anxiety feels different for each person, there are common signs many people experience. Experiencing these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean you have anxiety, but it’s important to be in touch with yourself. These signs could indicate it’s time to talk to someone.

NINE SIGNS TO PAY ATTENTION TO:
- Excessive worry and racing thoughts about everyday situations. This worry often feels out of proportion to the situation.
- Physical tension and muscle aches throughout the body. This happens because our body is triggered by a “fight or flight” response, causing muscles to tense up.
- Fatigue and low energy: Constant worry and racing thoughts require significant mental energy, leaving us feeling mentally drained even when we haven’t been physically active.
- Difficulty concentrating and making decisions occurs when the mind is preoccupied with worry, making it hard to focus on tasks at hand.
- Sleep problems are common when we feel anxious. It’s a cycle – you feel anxious, and you can’t sleep, yet poor sleep will make you feel more anxious.
- Gastrointestinal issues. The gut-brain connection means that when you feel anxious you might have digestive symptoms like nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, cramping, loss of appetite, overeating, acid reflux or heartburn.
- Social withdrawal and avoidance. Often, we begin to avoid certain situations, places, or activities that might trigger our emotions.
- Restlessness and feeling on edge. Feeling amped up most of the time or being unable to sit still or relax are common symptoms.
- Panic attacks. These intense episodes of fear or discomfort develop rapidly. They typically peak within minutes and can be extremely frightening. While they’re not life-threatening, the intense physical symptoms can feel overwhelming and may lead to fear of future attacks. TIP: Carry sour candy or salt with you if you or someone you know experiences panic attacks, it will help pull them out of it.
Remember that being anxious doesn’t mean you have anxiety, but if you do, anxiety is a treatable condition, and many effective approaches are available, including therapy, lifestyle changes, and when appropriate, medication. You don’t have to manage these symptoms alone, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
