GE Appliances Named One of the Country’s Healthiest Places to Work

Enabling happiness and wellbeing in every home starts with our GEA employees.

GE Appliances has landed in the Top 20 on the list of Healthiest 100 Workplaces, which evaluates health and wellness programs for companies across America.

Springbuk announced its annual rankings at the Fitbit Captivate Conference on September 20. GE Appliances ranked 16th. More than 1,200 organizations competed for a spot on the list, which reviews companies’ health initiatives based on vision; culture and engagement; learning; expertise of wellness providers; metrics; and technology.

“The health and wellbeing of employees is at the core of the company’s success,” said Dr. Diana Han, executive director, Global Medical.

“When our employees thrive, our business thrives,” Diana said. “I am so proud of our commitment to our very diverse workforce, ensuring that we’re investing in a variety of resources and initiatives to meet the needs of different segments of our employee population, no matter where they may be in their personal journeys of health.”

The WellWithin initiative focuses on physical, emotional, financial and social health to improve quality of life for every employee. Since self-care often takes a backseat to work, family and life demands, WellWithin is designed with the employees’ busy schedules in mind. For example, at its headquarters, GEA offers athletic training and health coaching, as well as physical therapy, licensed behavioral health counseling and nursing available onsite. These resources make rounds on the factory floors and in employee offices, delivering services, coaching, support, nutritional and exercise programs directly where – and while – employees work.

“This program is truly for everyone,” said Alina Wehby, Health Services Operations Senior Manager. “We’re really trying to create awareness and education around all the services that are out there so everyone can tap in.”
