Colorectal cancer is preventable—schedule your screening this March.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., but it’s also one of the most preventable. Regular screenings catch problems early—sometimes before they even become cancer.
Who’s at Risk?
Certain factors increase the chances of developing colorectal cancer, including:
- Family history of colon cancer or polyps
- Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s or colitis)
- Smoking, heavy alcohol use, or a poor diet
- Lack of exercise and obesity
- Type 2 diabetes
When Should You Get Screened?
The American Cancer Society recommends screenings starting at age 45, or earlier if you’re at higher risk. A colonoscopy is the best way to catch and remove polyps before they turn into cancer.
