It’s time to start talking

Checking in with someone and showing you care can help prevent suicide

Today is the day to change the narrative surrounding suicide. On World Suicide Prevention Day let’s start an open conversation about mental health.

Think about how many people you know … at work, your friends, your family.

1 in 21 U.S. adults have seriously thought about suicide in the last year.

You may not realize that someone close to you is struggling.

In fact, more than 700,000 people die by suicide every year. For each suicide, there are an estimated 20 suicide attempts. You can help prevent suicide by helping people in crisis find hope and support.

It’s time to shift from a culture of silence and stigma to openness, understanding, and support. By starting conversations, we can help break down barriers. People who are struggling feel relief when someone asks about them in a caring way and raise awareness.
