Standup Comedy Comes to Monogram Hall April 14

When relieving stress, giggles are just what the doctor ordered. Here’s why.

Whether it’s a sitcom, TikTok video or meme, laughing is a great form of stress relief – and that’s no joke.

A good laugh has great benefits to your health beyond making you feel happy. It immediately increases endorphins, lowers your stress response, and stimulates muscle relaxation. The long-term effects are even better. Laughing improves your immune system, relieves pains, and elevates your mood.

Since laughter is really one of the best medicines, join your co-workers for a comedy show on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. in Monogram Hall, brought to you by GEA WellWithin. Our very own Shantal Cabell, Senior Administrative Assistant and part-time comedian also known as Peaches, will be kicking off the show. The headliner is Demetrius Wheeler known as Comedian Meech Dog. Originally from Louisville, Meech Dog has been a stand-up comedian for over 20 years.

Raised by a funny single mother and his grandparents he learned at an early age the importance of laughter and love. After graduating from Morehead State University, he began his career as a teacher. Although he enjoyed working with children, his passion was making people laugh and friends encouraged him pursue comedy.

Demetrius moved to Florida and became a regular host at the Tampa Improv Comedy Club for several years. Since then, he has toured nationally and internationally performing at night clubs, prisons, event centers, comedy clubs and cruise ships. He has opened up for Cedric The Entertainer, Paul Mooney, Michael Colyar and many more well-known comedians. His upbeat energy, positivity, hilarious, charismatic comedy will have you wanting more.
