Supporting Women’s Health at Every Stage of Life

In recognition of International Women’s Day, we’re taking time to focus on the health topics that matter most to women and to remind our employees that GE Appliances is here to support women through every stage of life.

Through WellWithin and our onsite advanced primary care partner, CareATC, we are committed to helping employees prioritize prevention, early detection, and whole-person wellbeing.

Today, more than 2,000 GE Appliances women employees are engaged with our onsite advanced primary care services, and over 600 women have taken advantage of onsite breast screenings through Bexa or mammography services, and 150 have received a cardiovascular heart health screening, powerful examples of how prevention and access to care make a difference.

Here are a few key areas of women’s health to keep in mind this month:

Heart Health

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women, accounting for 1 in 5 female deaths in the United States. Nearly 44% of women live with some form of cardiovascular disease, and two out of three women have at least one risk factor.

Small steps can make a big impact — managing blood pressure and cholesterol, staying active, reducing stress, and avoiding tobacco all support long-term heart health. WellWithin programs such as Pelago tobacco cessation and CareATC providers are here to help employees take action in these areas.

Breast Health and Cancer Screening

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Because breast cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, screening plays a critical role in detection. When breast cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is about 99%.

Through WellWithin and CareATC, employees have access to:

  • Onsite Bexa breast exams
  • Onsite Mammography screenings and referrals
  • Preventive care education

Cervical Cancer and HPV Prevention

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when routine screening is completed.

Most cervical cancer is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), which is extremely common — about 8 in 10 people will get HPV at some point in their lives. Because cervical cancer develops slowly, screening can detect abnormal cells before cancer develops.

Employees can access:

  • Pap tests through CareATC  – so Pop-In for a Pap and pick up a free pair of Arie panties on us (Roper, MRO, and AP CareATC locations).

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

Women experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, caregiver stress, and burnout. Supporting emotional wellbeing is an important part of overall health.

WellWithin offers resources including:

  • Life Happens mental health support
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Mental health awareness programming

Menopause and Hormonal Health

Women’s health needs evolve over time. CareATC providers can support employees through perimenopause and menopause, including symptom management, sleep concerns, weight changes, and hormone therapy guidance.

Maternal Health and Family Support

GE Appliances supports employees through family-building journeys, including pregnancy, adoption, and surrogacy, as well as postpartum and return-to-work transitions. There are 15 accessible lactation rooms available across the business to support working mothers. We even have oneies available!

Prevention Matters! Preventive care is one of the most powerful ways to protect long-term health. Through CareATC and WellWithin, employees have access to

  • Annual physicals
  • Preventive screenings
  • Vaccinations
  • Chronic disease prevention support
  • Health education and coaching
  • Nutrition education and coach

This International Women’s Day, take time to prioritize your health — and remember that WellWithin and CareATC are here to support you every step of the way.
