Weedless Wednesday: A Day to Reset, Reflect, and Refocus

January 21 is Weedless Wednesday—a simple, supportive pause to encourage employees to take a break from cannabis use and reflect on how it may be impacting their health, focus, and overall wellbeing.

To kick things off, we’re handing out pot-themed (non-infused!) brownies the day before as a reminder that sometimes the healthiest choice is simply pressing pause. Weedless Wednesday isn’t about judgment or quitting—it’s about awareness, balance, and giving your mind and body a reset.

Why Take a Break?

Cannabis affects everyone differently. While some people use it occasionally without concern, others may notice it creeping into daily routines in ways that impact motivation, sleep, mood, or performance—often without realizing it.

Taking even a short break can help you:

  • Improve focus and mental clarity
  • Reset sleep patterns
  • Reduce dependence or tolerance
  • Better understand your relationship with cannabis

How Do You Know If Cannabis Use Might Be a Problem?

Cannabis use disorder doesn’t always look the way people expect. You don’t have to use daily—or feel “out of control”—to experience negative effects. Some signs to watch for include:

  • Using cannabis to cope with stress, anxiety, or sleep on a regular basis
  • Feeling irritable, restless, or anxious when not using
  • Needing more cannabis to get the same effect
  • Difficulty concentrating or staying motivated
  • Using despite negative impacts on work, relationships, or health
  • Thinking about cutting back—but not following through

If any of these feel familiar, Weedless Wednesday can be a low-pressure opportunity to check in with yourself.

What to Expect When You Take a Break

Some people notice mild, temporary effects when they stop using cannabis, such as:

  • Trouble sleeping
  • Mood changes or irritability
  • Headaches or decreased appetite

These typically improve within a few days to a couple of weeks. Staying hydrated, getting fresh air, moving your body, and practicing good sleep habits can help.
