WellWithin Day – Friday July 18

Swapping toolkits for drum sticks

Dave Burgan keeps the temperature in check at Appliance Park—but on Fun Friday, he’ll be behind the drum kit, rocking out with his band Sound Machine. Don’t miss it.

Appliance Park employees know Dave Burgan as the maintenance team go-to—making sure the heating and cooling systems are running smoothly. But on Friday, July 18, you’ll see a whole different side of him when he hits the stage with his band Sound Machine during Fun Friday for WellWithin Week.

It’s the first time Dave ever played a gig at work, and the first time many of his co-workers will see him in his element – hair down, sticks flying.

“Maintenance man life is way different than drummer man life,” says Dave, who has worked at GE Appliances for 13 years, been a member of Sound Machine for seven years and played drums for 50. “So, for them to see the mullet flowing and the dangle earring – I would say there’s going to be some surprised people.”

Sound Machine plays regular gigs around the region at spots like Blind Squirrel and Joe’s Older Than Dirt, covering hit songs and “whatever gets people on the dance floor.” They’ve also opened for legendary rock band Air Supply and are booked to play the Kentucky State Fair for the second year in a row.

Dave says he’s excited that his co-workers will get to see him doing what he loves best. “I hope this will get the word out and encourage people to come see us,” he says.
