WellWithin in Hyderabad got a nutritionist, SWETHA ANISINGARAJU to come and speak about nutrition and its importance in one’s diet. The presentation was called- We are what we eat.
When Food is Wrong, Medicine is of no use and when Food is Right, Medicine is of no Need
Even though we all agree with what is said above, somewhere in our busy life we unknowingly neglect our health by not paying attention to what we are eating, how nutritious it is and if it is enough for our body to be healthy.
This session focused on how this balance is attained and topics related to importance of counting nutrients not calories. The speaker stressed on a popular adage- “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and Dinner like a pauper” and encouraged everyone to follow that. The speaker addressed common questions like what should your food constitute and how to make food nutrient dense. She also mentioned some summer nutrition tips which were really helpful.
There were many questions from the audience on this, like if lack of exercise can be compensated by dieting. How weight loss can be achieved without having to compromise on the nutrition part. Ms Swetha addressed all these by giving examples of what must be done and what must be avoided. An interesting thing which many employees found fascinating is her encouragement of reading the “Nutrition fact Label” of the product you buy. She showed an example and showed the sections which we should limit and sections which we should get enough of. This was very useful information. Finally she concluded the session by saying- it’s not a diet, it’s called eating healthy.
The session was very well taken by all employees. On the whole the session was a success and feedback received was encouraging enough for us to conduct many more such sessions.
